Alan Gerstel is a weekend Anchor for the Fox 29 Ten O'clock News and the Anchor of News 12's weekend newscast on WPEC NEWS 12.

He joined WPEC in 1990 from NEWS 12 Long Island, the nation's first regional all-news cable station. He was part of the original team of journalists who launched the successful NEWS 12 operation in 1986.

Prior to joining NEWS 12 Long Island, he worked for five years as a news anchor and reporter for several cable stations in the New York metropolitan area. Alan won two North Jersey Press Club awards for excellence, a cable "ACE" nomination and an Emmy nomination. He also garnered an Emmy nomination for a Special Report for NEWS 12 entitled "Anatomy of an Accident" and was honored by the Vietnam Veterans of America for his series "Back to Vietnam."

He is a graduate of Boston University and attended New York University as a graduate student. A Vietnam veteran, Alan received the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. Alan and his wife reside in Palm Beach County. Their twin sons attend the University of Florida.
