At Age 28 he was charged with mysterious shooting of Samuel Crume’s wife, (Curran, 28) in her room, the night of March 3. Her husband was away at work. Five shots were fired. Mrs. Curran (Seeger) Crume called a doctor, while Stiles fell wounded into a pool room across the street. She was struck once in the back, the bullet lodging in her lung, while he was struck 3 times, in the left arm and through his chest and lung.
