Wayne Ennis announced for the office of Sheriff and his announcement included......"I am sixty years of age and have been engaged in the milling business, general store, and farming in Larue County since 1918. I am a member of the First Baptist Church of Hodgenville, and was baptized by the Reverend Dr. Mitchell and am a Mason, member of B. R. Young Lodge No. 132, Hodgenville, Kentucky..........."

MRS. WAYNE ENNIS, LOCAL RESIDENT DIES AT HOSPITAL
Mrs. Stella Howell Ennis, wife of Wayne Ennis, of this city, died at 4:30 pm last Wednesday at St. Joseph Infirmary in Louisville, after an extended illness. She was seventy-seven years of age.
A native of Larue County, she was born and raised at Malt, where her father, the late J. M. "Mace" Howell, was postmaster and owned and operated a large corn and flour mill, known as Howell's Mill, for many years.
Mrs. Ennis was a former school teacher, having taught in Larue County Schools for about ten years. Mr. and Mrs. Ennis operated the mill and post office at Malt for several years after the death of her father, but when the post office at Malt was abolished they moved from that section to Howardstown, where they owned and operated a grocery and the post office for eighteen years.
The Ennis' moved to Hodgenville in 1949 after selling their business in Howardstown.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Howard, of Knob Creek, this county, and Mrs. Nora Rayle, Louisville, and a number of nieces and nephews. Three nieces, Mrs. Ruby Moore, Mrs. Martha Clanon of South Carolina and Mrs. Nancy Burba, of this city, were raised by Mr. and Mrs. Ennis.
The body was at Williams and Miller Funeral Home here until the funeral Friday at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church near Hodgenville. Interment was in Mt. Tabor Church cemetery.
