He was a Revolutionary War Veteran. He was around 60 years old when he joined in 1776 until early 1777. He was a supply wagon teamster in the German Battalion under the command of Nicholas Haussegger
He crossed the Delaware River with General George Washington and was present at the Battle of Trenton and the Battle of the Assunpink Creek
His granddaughter, Anna Maria Weller, married Jacob Beam (1787–1843) the son of Johannes "Jacob" Beam the founder of Jim Beam Bourbon Whiskey
His great grandson was William Larue Weller who's famous for his Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey
Johannes died March 11, 1792 in an accident when a horse he was leading down a hillside trail fell on him.
One of the founders of Apple church in Thurmont. (Some of his descendants went on to form the Weller Methodist Church a short distance away.)
According to records that we have, Johannes Weller was born in Diedenshausen, Westfalen (on 24 May 1716, from the church register) not in Bayern - his parents were Johann Daniel Weller and Anna Maria SPIESS.
