Neilsville, Wisconsin 16 October 1919
Mrs. Lydia Haner, one of the oldest residents of this locality and Clark County, Wisconsin, died at the home of her son, J. W. Short in Levis, Clark County, Wisconsin.

Deceased, whose maiden name was Lydia Green, was born in Kingston, New York, December 26, 1833. She grew to womanhood there and in 1853 was married to R. W. Short. In May 1860 they came to Wisconsin, stopping for a time with her sister on Wedges Creek. Later they moved to Neilsville, having a house in town and living on their farm nearby in the summer. The husband enlisted in the Civil War and died in Georgia. They had three sons: J. W. Short, who lives here, Arthur Short in Seattle and Frank Short in Illinois, also one daughter, Mrs. Nettie Clifford of "Stevens Point, all of whom are living.
In 1868 Mrs. Short married George Haner and to them was born one daughter, Mrs. Nora Bussin, now of San Fransisco, California. Later Mr Haner died. She continued to make her home in Neilsville, occasionally going to live for a time with her children. For some time past she made her home with her son, Wallace Short, where she was kindly cared for until she died. She was one of the active pioneer women of this region, alert and strong in mind and body and doing well her part in life, until weakened by advancing age.

The funeral was held at her son's home Saturday, Rev. G. W. Longnecker officiating..

NOTE: There are a couple of errors in this obituary. Her first husband did not die in Georgia, but in Adams Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She and her second husband George Haner divorced.
