Left home around 18-25 yrs. old. Started a river trade business on the Mississippi and Tennessee Rivers. One well known vessel was called Rapier’s Barge, which made a round trip journey from Nashville you New Orleans in a record breaking 90 days, a trip which normally took 4 months. He eventually settled in Florence, AL.
