Mrs. Jennie Ballard, who resided near Holy Cross until moving to Louisville a few years ago, passed away in that city Sunday morning at 1:00 o'clock of complications. She had not been well since contracting a deep cold in the 1937 flood in Louisville.

Prior to her marriage to Greenie Ballard she was Miss Jennie Peake, daughter of Richard and Eliza Boone Peake. She was widely related and had a legion of friends in the Holy Cross section, all of whom were grieved to learn of her death. She is survived by her husband, five daughters, Mrs. Fred Curran, Mrs. Ulysses Knopp and Misses Lila, Ola, and Marcella Ballard, all of Louisville; two sons, Beam and Raymond Ballard, all of Louisville. two sisters, Mrs. Matt Wimsatt and Mrs. Annie Brown, of Louisville and four brothers, Boone Peake, of New Haven, Sylvester Peake, of South America and John and Raymond Peake, both of Cincinnati, Ohio. Another sister Mrs. Kate Ferriell of Holy Cross preceded her to the grave.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Charles Boromeo Church in Louisville, and burial took place in St. Michael's Cemetery, there.

Beloved husband of the late Jennie Ballard (nee Peake); father of Matthews Beam and Raymond Boone Ballard, Mrs. Blanche Curran, Mrs. Ruby Knopp, Miss Lila M. and Miss Marcella A. Ballard; brother of George Ballard; also survived by 27 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral Thursday morning at 8:30 o'clock from the Carl E. Herbold Funeral Home, 20th and Broadway, and 9 o'clock from St. Charles Borromeo Church, Rev. Leo O.M.C. and Friar Xavier Knopp and Rev. Father Keifer will participate at the funeral mass. Internment in St. Michael's Cemetery.
