She and Raymond managed Lincoln’s Boyhood Home in two separate periods between 1935 and 1949. They lived in the tavern, sharing the upstair with the McGill Family on the other end.

OBITUARY: Helen Virginia Howard Peake, 90, of Hodgenville died March 3, 2002 at Sunrise Manor in Hodgenville. She was a native of Howardstown, formerly operated the Old Lincoln Tavern & Boyhood Home along with her husband, was a farmer, a homemaker, and a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hodgenville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester F. and Hattie Howell Howard; her husband, Raymond Kirby Peake; two sons, Howard and James Peake; a grandson, Joe Peake; a sister, Mildred Head; and three brothers, Paul, Fred and Milburn Howard.d
She is survived by two daughter-in-laws, Paula Peake of Hodgenville and Jackie Peake of Bardstown; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was March 5 at St. Catherine Church in New Haven with Fr. Clarence Howard and Fr. Jim Mudd officiating. Burial was in St. Catherine Church Cemetery. Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven was in charge of arrangements.

Larue Farmer, Raymond Peake, Dies Here at 51
Raymond “Kirby” Peake, 51, owner of the Knob Creek Stock Farm, near Athertonville, died early Saturday, September 30, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He had undergone surgery earlier in the week, and had been ill only a very short time.
Son of the late Nelson County Sheriff T. Boone Peake, of New Haven, Mr. Peake operated Lincoln Tavern on Knob Creek before purchasing the Knob Creek Stock Farm, known as the “Jack Thompson Place,” where he lived.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen Howard Peake; two sons, Howard and James Edward Peake, both students at the University of Kentuck; four sisters, Sister Thomas James, Raywick; Mrs. Glen Sowers, Louisville; Mrs. Ed Rogers, Lawrenceburg Ind; and Mrs. R. E. Applegate, Grayson, Kentucky; three brothers Frank Peake, Elizabethtown; Hubert and Richard Peake, both of Louisville; one grandchild, Helen Peake, Lexington.
Funeral services were held from the residence and at our Lady of Mercy Church, Hodgenville, Monday morning, with the pastor Rev. Samuel Lee, officiating at the High Requiem Mass. Internment was in St. Catherine Cemetery at New Haven.
Pallbearers were Harold and Henry Enlow, Robert Cecil, Othel Devers, Roscoe O’Bryan, Jake Ovesen, all of LaRue County.
